Summer 2024 eChem Newsletter
Greetings from Gamry! It's the middle of summer and we have some news to share with you.
Gamry’s new rotating electrode system is now shipping. The RXE system is capable of rotating up to 10,000 RPM's out-of-the-box. No special electrodes required. Digital control is fully integrated into our acquisition software for seamless use of rotation to obtain tafel slopes or run a Koutecký–Levich analysis.
We would like to announce our third live webinar of the year that focuses on the use of EIS and electrochemical noise as non-invasive battery analysis tools by Dr. Burak Ülgüt, Associate Professor at Bilkent University. Join us for what will be a critical look at impedance and noise measurement. We will send additional information in the weeks to come.

We hosted two live webinars in the past few months covering the topics of high current EIS and electrochemical separations. Recordings of these two webinars are posted on our video library web page and can be accessed at any time. Follow this link here:
We are in the process of updating many of our existing application notes as well as crafting new ones. You may have seen a couple of them already in a recent Friday focus e-mail or two. One recent popular application note was the new one looking at accurately measuring low impedance batteries using EIS.

2024 Annual Short Course on
Electrochemically Active Biofilms

This year marks the 9th year of the EAB Short Course held at Washington State University in Pullman WA, USA. We had a dozen attendees sit together through lectures and laboratory sessions for a week-long discussion on electron transfer in biofilms. As always, running cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy on live biofilm grown on electrodes (and the subsequent discussions) was well-received. Though popular opinion suggested that the eQCM portion of the labs might have been the best part!

Make it a habit to measure the uncompensated resistance (Ru) of your electrochemical cell. It only takes a minute to run the “GetRu” script and record the value in your lab notebook. Over time, you will be able to use Ru to identify setup issues and avoid bad runs.
