Cyclic Voltammetry

Cyclic Voltammetry (CV) is arguably the most widely used electrochemical technique in the world.  CV allows you to study a variety of electrochemical systems, revealing both fundamental and application oriented information.  Gamry's range of potentiostats can perform cyclic voltammetry from sub-pA to As of current and scan rates from sub-mV to thousands of volts per second.  Gamry potentiostats can also accurately measure double-layer capacitance or electrochemical surface area (ESCA) during CV.

For those researchers who need a high performance potentiostat for cyclic voltammetry, low current, UME, or fast scans, we recommend the Reference 620 or Reference 3000/3000AE potentiostats.  For more general work where sub-pA of current are not needed, we recommend the Interface line of potentiostats.

Cyclic Voltammetry (CV) is the most popular electrochemical technique due to its ability to deduce reaction mechanisms with relatively low-cost equipment and quick experimentation.

Cyclic Voltammetry can be performed with a general purpose potentiostat like the Gamry Interface 1010B. For faster scanning, we recommend the Reference 620 or Reference 3000/3000AE.

DigiElch Electrochemical Simulation Software gives you fast and accurate simulation of cyclic voltammetry at the most common electrode geometries.
