EN120
Electrochemical Noise Software

The EN120 Electrochemical Noise Software is an inexpensive entry into Electrochemical Noise testing. The EN120 software  includes experimental techniques for both potentiostatic and ZRA mode noise experiments.  The ESA400 Electrochemical Signal Analyzer may also be used for electrochemical noise measurement.

The EN120 controls your Gamry Potentiostat to make the electrochemical noise measurement. The EN120 can be combined with the ECM8 Multiplexer for noise tests on multiple cells. The results are analyzed the Gamry Echem Analyst.

The EN120 data acquisition is performed with the Gamry Framework.  The data analysis is performed using the Gamry Echem Analyst.  Click here for more details on these software platforms.

The EN120 software, along with any Gamry Potentiostat, can be pre-configured as a turnkey solution, and integrated into a desktop, notebook, or portable computer.

Standard Experiments
  • Potentiostatic Mode ECN  - iThe Potentiostat holds a metal specimen at a constant potential. Periodically, short blocks of current data are recorded. The block length, the data acquisition rate within the block, and the time between blocks are all user selectable. After the block is acquired, the data is "detrended" by subtracting a best fit linear current versus time curve from the measured currents. The rms noise of the detrended current is then calculated and reported as the current noise of this data block. The noise data from a sequence of blocks is used to build up a current noise versus time curve.

  • ZRA Mode ECN  - Two identical metal samples are used as the test specimens.  The system "electronically shorts" these specimens and measures the current flow between them. At the same time, the potential of the specimens are measured versus a reference electrode. The rms noise level of both the detrended current and detrended potential are calculated.  The data curve from a ZRA mode test is current noise and potential noise versus time.
Systems Information
The EN120 Electrochemical Noise Software requires a Gamry Potentiostat to conduct experiments.
