Interface 1010T

Potentiostat / Galvanostat / ZRA
Cited in the literature See research citations →

An entry-level potentiostat/galvanostat/ZRA for undergraduate and graduate teaching labs — ±100 mA across six current ranges, ±5 V, and EIS to 20 kHz. It is the same hardware as the Interface 1010E with the ranges capped in software, so a lab can upgrade as its course grows.

What it does
  • Six current ranges from 1 µA to 100 mA, eight with internal gain
  • Built-in EIS to 20 kHz
  • Potentiostat, galvanostat, and ZRA modes without added hardware
  • Runs cyclic voltammetry, chronoamperometry, chronopotentiometry, and pulse and square-wave voltammetry
  • Same hardware as the 1010E with limits set in software — upgradeable to a 1010B or 1010E
  • Floating instrument, 2.4 kg in a 24 × 6 × 27 cm case for a shared teaching bench

“Reliable results and good quality of devices for a long lasting use.”

“This device is in addition to our REF600. We use both in parallel for a wide variety of corrosion experiments. So from the software this is a really good solution to able to use and monitor these 2 devices in parallel.”

Published EIS accuracy, not claimed accuracy

The Interface 1010T is an entry-level potentiostat designed for undergraduate and graduate teaching labs.  It provides all of the capabilities needed for getting students introduced to physical and analytical electrochemistry.  It even provides for potentiostatic EIS up 20 kHz.

See the Specifications tab for the instrument specifications.  The Interface 1010T can be upgraded to a fully-featured Interface 1010E with an infield upgrade.  This allows you to get a low-cost potentiostat for teaching purposes that can later be upgraded to a fully-capable research-grade potentiostat able to perform experiments for a wide variety of applications.

// Overview

The Interface 1010T™ is an entry-level potentiostat designed for undergraduate and graduate teaching labs. It provides the capabilities students need for an introduction to physical and analytical electrochemistry, in the same chassis and software as the rest of the Interface 1010 line.

It is the most limited configuration in the line, and deliberately so — the ranges are capped to what a teaching lab needs. As supplied it applies up to ±100 mA rather than ±1 A, up to ±5 V rather than ±12 V, and measures potentiostatic EIS to 20 kHz rather than 2 MHz, driving a single working electrode.

For techniques including:

  • Physical Electrochemistry — cyclic voltammetry, chronoamperometry, chronopotentiometry
  • Pulse Voltammetry — differential pulse, normal pulse, Osteryoung square wave and associated stripping techniques
  • Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy — potentiostatic EIS to 20 kHz

Upgradeable to an Interface 1010E. The Interface 1010T uses the same hardware as the Interface 1010E — its limits are set in software, not by the electronics. The full 1010E capability can therefore be enabled on an instrument you already own, without replacing it. Talk to us about upgrading.

1010T Starter Package

The Interface 1010T Potentiostat/Galvanostat/ZRA and Starter Pack is designed to help people understand and start making measurements sooner.

The kit includes:

  • Interface 1010T Potentiostat/Galvanostat/ZRA
  • Five experiments
  • Student and Teacher’s manuals (digital)
  • Cells and electrodes

Experiments have been chosen to help you learn a variety of techniques from cyclic voltammetry to pulse techniques to corrosion techniques and even electrochemical impedance spectroscopy.

Cyclic Voltammetry

  • Determine the redox potential and diffusion coefficient of potassium ferricyanide.

Determination of Working Area of an Electrode

  • Calculate the electroactive area of the WE. Understand concentration distance profiles. Familiarization with the Cottrell and Anson equations

Comparison of Pulse Techniques

  • Compare different pulse techniques. Determine amount of copper in an unknown water sample

Corrosion of Mild Steel at different pHs.

  • Determine the corrosion rates for mild steel at different pHs.

Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy

  • Perform EIS on a network of resistors and capacitors. Model EIS data using an equivalent circuit to extra resistor and capacitor values.
