EIS Box

Make impedance measurements on up to eight batteries

The EIS Box is a multiplexed eight channel instrument designed for impedance measurements on batteries (or other devices such as supercapacitors or fuel cells) and is typically used in conjunction with a battery cycler.  The EIS Box is isolated from ground and is capable of EIS from 100 kHz down to 10 µHz and comes in a 3U 19" rack-mountable chassis. The EIS Box comes in two versions, the EIS Box 5000 or the EIS Box 1010.

  • EIS on up to eight cells sequentially
  • 10 µHz to 100 kHz*
  • Includes 3 m cables
  • Ethernet or USB based
*Specifications subject to change
*For Windows 10 & 11 Operating System Only
*Not compatible with Virtual Front Panel or Electrochemical Signal Analyzer software packages
*Compatible with techniques within Electrochemical Energy software package, excluding cyclic voltammetry

EIS Box Highlights

The EIS Box comes with eight 3 m cell cables and is designed to be used in conjunction with a battery tester/cycler to provide impedance testing. Cycle testing of the battery would be provided by the battery tester/cycler. It can be installed in a 19-inch rack (similar to the ECM8 multiplexer). Connection to the EIS Box is made through ethernet or USB. As with a USB connection to our potentiostats, the EIS Box has to be in constant contact with the host computer for experiments to be performed successfully. Connection via ethernet is done via a direct connection to the computer or over a local network only; connection over the internet is not possible.

Though the EIS Box was designed for single cell measurements of individual cells, it can measure voltages within a stack of cells. Each EIS Box channel can measure a +/- 5V cell whose maximum voltage does not exceed 26V versus ground. Additionally, the EIS Box cannot measure more than 26V total in a stack. For example, if you had eight or more 4.2V cells in a stack, the EIS Box cannot measure more than the first six in that stack. Please contact us if you need further explanation for this special application.
