The data file from a Polarization Resistance experiment is analyzed using the Polarization Resistance.Gscript provided with the DC Corrosion software. The Polres analysis package is used for fast, simple corrosion-rate calculation.
Polarization Resistance experiments are usually used to obtain quantitative corrosion-rate information. The primary use of the analysis packages is for graphing and numerical curve-fitting.
Polarization Resistance data cannot normally be used for Tafel calculations, because data obtained near Eoc do not contain enough information about the kinetic parameters of the anodic and cathodic reactions.
