Script and Data Locations in Version 5.50

Beginning with Version 5.20, the locations of scripts, sets, models, and data files have been changed to ease the transition to the Windows VistaTM Operating System.  The Version 5.50 Setup program will automatically move your existing sets, scripts, and model folders and their contents.  It will also move your "My Gamry Data" folder and all of your data files.

For your convenience, a shortcut to "your new "My Gamry Data" folder will be placed on the desktop.  A link to the Gamry .ini file will be placed on the Start bar under: Start - All Programs - Gamry - Framework - Gamry5.ini.

With these changes, Administrator or Power-User privileges should no longer be required to run the Gamry software.

The table, below, shows the new locations of the scripts-, sets-, and model-folders.

My Gamry Data (.dta and .GData)

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\My Gamry Data

Gamry.ini file (Gamry5.ini)

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Gamry Instruments\Framework\Gamry5.ini

Framework Scripts (.exp)

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Gamry Instruments\Framework\Scripts\

Framework Sets (.set)

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Gamry Instruments\Framework\Sets\

Echem Analyst scripts (.GScript)

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Gamry Instruments\Echem Analyst\Scripts\

Echem Analyst Models (.mdl)

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Gamry Instruments\Echem Analyst\Models\

Echem Analyst Databases (.mdb)

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Gamry Instruments\Echem Analyst\Databases\

Note: By default, the Application Data folder is a hidden folder.  If you try to navigate to it from C:\, it will not appear in the folder- tree!  To make it appear, you must change a setting in the Control Panel.  Go to: Start - Control Panel - Appearance and Themes - Folder Options.  Select the View tab.

Under Files and Folders - Hidden Files and Folders, click the radio button "Show hidden files and folders."

The Application Data folder and its sub-folders will now appear in the folder-tree as you navigate through your hard drive.
