Jacob hails largely from Texas and Kansas, with (some long) stopovers in North Carolina, Illinois, Oregon and, very briefly, Paraguay.  Zoe, "The Dog," has followed him through several of those moves starting at UNC.

Jacob received his B.S. Chemistry degree from the University of Kansas in Lawrence.  Recommended by Dr. Cindy Larive, he attended graduate school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where his Research Advisor was Dr. Mark Wightman.

Jacob had a number of projects at UNC.  He specialized in making electrogenerated chemiluminescence measurements with ultramicroelectrodes at high efficiency and high speed.  His experience with microelectrodes was of interest to Gamry -- that's where the instrument meets the sample!

Jacob also worked on electrochemical simulation software and developed a nice application that has proven useful for training purposes at Gamry.  He's our go-to guy for our DigiElch Electrochemical Simulation Software.

After UNC, Jacob spent 1 1/2 years at a postdoctoral appointment with Dr. Chad Mirkin at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL working on electrodeposition, sensors, and nanomaterials.

Jacob joined Gamry in 2008.  Jacob is a fan of college basketball and, despite our warnings of doom and destruction, he's thinking about buying a motorcycle.  He's also not a bad cook and has a taste for fine wine.  His latest trip to South Africa has made him a (very) amateur shark cage diver.

After shouldering his share of the US economic burden by purchasing a home in Wyncote, Pennsylvania, he now gets to engage in ritual homeowner complaining.  "The Dog" is content.
