Burak received his B.S. in Chemistry from Bilkent University in Turkey.

For graduate school, he crossed the Big Water to attend Cornell University in Ithaca, NY.  When he arrived at Cornell, his chemistry specialty was undecided.  But Dr. Hector Abruña took care of that and quickly focused Burak on electrochemistry.  He obtained both a Masters Degree and a Ph.D. in Chemistry under the direction of Dr. Abruña.

Burak worked on conducting polymers and correlating their electrochemistry and electron transport properties.  He also served as one of the cofounders of the Chemistry Department Soccer Team and is at least partially to blame for the name of the team...Entropy.

After Cornell, Burak tested his mettle with a postdoctoral appointment in the Optoelectronics Group in the Department of Physics at the Cavendish Laboratory at Cambridge University with Dr. Richard Friend.  Dr. Friend's instructions were "go talk to people and see if electrochemistry can be useful to us!"  It takes a dynamic guy to handle an assignment like that -- he is and he did!

At Gamry, Burak works with our users and worldwide Distributors.  He also plays a significant role on the engineering side of our instrumentation.  Burak has a strong background in software development and has added transmission lines to our EIS300 Software.  He's also working a very cool multisine EIS technique that he described at EIS2010 in Portugal.
