TDC2 Temperature Controller

Gamry's TDC2 Temperature Controller can control heating and cooling circuits as well as a recirculating bath.   Temperature limits, step sizes, delay periods, etc. are all under user control. The TDC2 is intended specifically for use with  the Gamry Instruments CPT110 Critical Pitting Temperature System.

The TDC2 is based on the Watlow Controls Series 989 temperature controller which offers an impressive array of features. The TDC2 itself is controlled by your IBM PC compatible computer and the CPT110 Critical Pitting Temperature system via a standard 9 or 25-pin RS-232 serial port.  The TDC2 controls the temperature of an electrochemical cell by turning on and off a heat source that transfers heat to the cell.  Optionally, a cooler can be used to remove heat from the cell. In either case, the TDC2 switches AC power to the heater or cooler to control the direction of any heat transfer. The TDC2 is a closed loop system, it measures the temperature of the cell using  a platinum RTD, and uses feedback to control the heater and/or cooler. The TDC2 can be used in an on/off mode or a PID (Proportional, Integral, Derivative) mode.  The on/off mode uses hysteresis parameters to control its switching, while the ID mode uses tuning parameters.    Unlike the earlier TDC1 , the TDC2 does not require system calibration to achieve accurate temperature control.  In addition, the TDC2 offers optional manual or automatic tuning capability.

The TDC2 is the ideal Temperature Control Unit to use with Gamry's Corrosion Test Cells, be sure to see our full line of Test Cells.
