Expanded View of the Series G  Potentiostat

The Series G 300 and Series G 750 Potentiostats consist of two printed circuit boards: a Potentiostat Board and Controller Board.  

The cell cable is connected to the Potentiostat Board (left) directly into the analog electronics of the potentiostatic circuitry.  In operation, about 75% of the Potentiostat Board is covered by a metal shield to reduce noise pick-up. The LED on the Potentiostat Board indicate cell ON/OFF.

The Controller Board (right) is where the digital components of the Potentiostat are located.  These include the DACs for signal generation and Analog-to-Digital Converters for signal measurement.  The Direct Digital Synthesis circuitry for EIS measurement is built into the Controller Board. The input/outputs on the Series G include four BNC Connectors for various analog signals.  The 15-pin D connector provides all sorts of analog and digital I/O signals so that the Series G has all the tools to communicate with the outside world or interconnect with other instruments.

Both the Controller Board and the Potentiostat Board require power from the computer power supply.  The power cable connects to the upper rear of the Potentiostat Board and the upper front of the Controller Board.  The Potentiostat and Controller Board are connected by a short flat-ribbon cable.
