CCK Corrosion Cell Kit

The Corrosion Cell Kit^™ ( CCK^™ ) was designed for simple, reliable operation. The cell is based on a standard glass reaction flask. The cell top has four 24/40 standard taper holes.  Three of the holes are equipped with Teflon tubing adapters. Components were selected to
be as chemically inert as possible. In normal use the only materials in contact with the test solution are glass and TFE (teflon). The cell is therefore usable with a wide variety of test solutions, including nonaqueous media.

In the normal cell configuration, one adapter holds the working electrode in the top's central hole. Other adapters hold the graphite rod counter electrode and a gas dispersion tube.  A glass Luggin capillary fit in the final hole. The SCE reference electrode supplied with the cell fits into the upper portion of this Luggin capillary as shown above.

The cell is normally used to run electrochemical tests on standard
cylindrical metal specimens. You can also customize the cell for use with other sample types. The Corrosion Cell Kit^™ ships with two C1018 mild steel samples.  A commercial source of suitable cylindrical specimens is the P/N 410 series from Metal Samples Company. They have cylindrical samples available in several hundred different metals.
