This is the Corrosion Short Course Group assembled at a local lake near State College for some R&R on Wednesday afternoon. The faculty in the front row include Rudy Buchheit, Dr. Jerry Frankel, Dr. Barbara Shaw from Penn State (who is also the administrator and organizer of the Course) who is hiding behind her son, DJ, and Dr. Howard Pickering from Penn State. |

During the 2005 football season (this is American football at the university level, where passions run very high!), the Penn State Nittany Lions defeated the Ohio State Buckeyes. To atone for this heinous event, Rudy Buchheit (red shirt), Jerry Frankel (black shirt), and Nick Birbilis (green shirt) from Ohio State wore Penn State caps and sang the Penn State Fight Song. Penn State had not won this interstate contest in several years, so the Ohio Staters were out of practice and sang so badly that Howard Pickering (right) graciously provided much-needed assistance. We're not sure where Rudy and Jerry found the Penn State ties, but it certainly sets them apart...very far apart...from the crowd. |
